Retro Reminiscing

One of my favourite Brisbane Wedding Stylists is White + White. I’m always delighted when they, or their bride and grooms, call on me to complete various signage for weddings. Each time has been so different and unique, it’s been a creative soul’s dream!

However, when I first received Nadia and Alex’s brief, the first things I recall are ‘pink flamingos’, ‘astro turf’ and ‘garden tea party’!!!!!

I must admit, initially, my design brain went into blender mode. Luckily, Nadia and I communicated directly and we were able banter thoughts and ideas back and forth until we had both reached a desirable result. Nine signs in total.

This entailed a lot of research into retro fonts and elements, plus designs and layout compositions… and amendments. Also, drawing on my childhood TV memories of Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeanie and the like, which was a treat.

Thank you very much for the care and speed with which you produced these blackboards for us.  You really took the time to understand our theme and exactly what we were after and then you elevated the concept beyond anything we could have imagined.  We loved them and they tied our various styling elements together.  Thank you!  We would recommend you to anyone!! – Nadia

The end result was nothing short of amazing. The first time I ‘really’ knew that this was going to be a wedding like no other, was when I ‘virtually’ laid eyes on the incredible floral arrangement, hanging over and above the guest tables, created by Green and Bloom Events… I was truly blown away.

Months went by until official photos were released on social media, and in Brisbane Brides Magazine!  Every one of them captured so perfectly by Studio Sixty. All of the images in this blog post were snapped by talented wedding photographer Jason Starr, who works side by side with, studio manager, the lovely Sally Ogilvie.
