Welcome to Blackboard Artworx’s Inaugral Blog Post

Hi, I’m Nina and I’d like to firstly welcome you to Blackboard Artworx, tell you a little about how it was hatched and what it’s all about.

In 1996, I began working as a ticket writer for a large chain of supermarkets, which just happened have blackboards in need of weekly updating. Back then I was given school chalk to carry out the task…which was fun, but nowhere near what Blackboard Artworx creates today. It wasn’t long before nearby shop owners asked if I’d be willing to make/revamp their menus and signs. So, I dug out my chalk pastels which were buried deep in a box, from my art college days, and began to build a little business. This is one of my early pieces…*cringe*.

After quite a few years of practice!¬†practice!¬†practice! (which is a never ending process) and producing blackboards for local establishments, I knew that if I was going to reach customers further a field, I’d have to find a way of making my work smudge proof…and that’s exactly what I did.

Now, I’m happy to say I can freight Blackboard Artworx blackboards anywhere. They’re not only smudge proof, but they can be wiped over should they get a tad dusty.

Applications for blackboard art and signs is only limited by the imagination. Over the years Blackboard Artworx has supplied blackboards to (to name a few) mechanics, butchers, nail salons, florists, private homes, cafes/restaurants, expos and weddings. Vintage style, distressed¬† finish, full, vibrant or subdued, soft colour, there’s a Blackboard Artworx blackboard to suit any situation or occasion.

Well, that’s enough from me for now, I hope to see you here again soon and look forward to your comments and feedback.
